The name of a French type of 'shandy'?

While walking in France it was common for French walkers to order a type of 'Shandy' at the bars and cafes. The beer was mixed with a 'reddish' fruit drink of some kind.

The name as far as I can remember sounded like...

'galupain frais'

Does anyone know the correct name for this drink?

Some here drink lager and lime the French drink lager and strawberry (creme de fraise?).

In Belgium "Grenadine" is a favourite addative to beer - or was when I lived there....
Kriek is a beer with an addition (in the brewing) of cherries...a lot better than it sounds!

"Galopin" refers to the glass, a small 15cl one.

Could have been a Leffe or an Affligem.

In Bavaria a common shandy was wiess beir and cola. Sounds strange, looked like a muddy puddle but actually very nice.

Well yes if its a real ale, but if its some thing pants like John Smiths or Tetleys then its fine. Infact it cannot make them taste worse

Agreed but you would still have to drink twice as much or 3times if you use cooking lager like carling or xxxx

Shandygaff --- bitter and ginger beer is a good one. Not as sweet as with lemo and nice and refreshing.
