While walking in France it was common for French walkers to order a type of 'Shandy' at the bars and cafes. The beer was mixed with a 'reddish' fruit drink of some kind.

The name as far as I can remember sounded like...

'galupain frais'

Does anyone know the correct name for this drink?

Thanks :)

In Belgium "Grenadine" is a favourite addative to beer - or was when I lived there....
Kriek is a beer with an addition (in the brewing) of cherries...a lot better than it sounds!

And there was me thinking it was just the folk in the south of England that were shandy drinkers :lmao:

Craig..........

Pint of bitter shandy on a hot day with a packet of smokey bacon crisps... magic. Halcyon days, Jumpers for goal posts..... etc. etc.

Sorry but putting lemonade in a perfectly good pint of beer is just so wrong !!!!!!!!!!

Well yes if its a real ale, but if its some thing pants like John Smiths or Tetleys then its fine. Infact it cannot make them taste worse :p

Agreed but you would still have to drink twice as much or 3times if you use cooking lager like carling or xxxx
