…..and the Indian Government zealously guards the area to keep folks out of some areas too. It's their territory, they have regional government, they have a long history and understand the exploitation of the other Andaman islanders….the British used one island as a prison, and effectively wiped out the native population as a result.

If they choose to make wider connections, then the door is open, but there's no pressing need to drag them through it, iimmc. and many reasons (lack of immunity to common diseases and no history of vaccination) to leave them in peace.
The Indians have gone from friendly communication to hands off because they felt that it was doing more harm than good.
