Whilst on the subject of badly dubbed 70s cheese.

Who remembers..

Monkey, who looked a bit like Valentino Rossi but was better on a cloud that a Moto GP bike.
The Water Margain.
And one that I only rermember as Michael Strogonoff? Can't remember much about that one though as I watched it when I was a nipper.

All great TV at around about tea time.

Hmmm not Champion the Wonder Horse then...that was "Ricky North" (and Rebel the dog)

Wasn't Follyfoot either

Or "The Tomorrow People" (don't buy the DVDs - no, don't, really)

Falling Rain - do "Admirals", "The Quay Club" or "Tiffanies" mean anything to you?

Red

No, No, NO. Now look what you've done! I've got 'The Singing Ringing Tree' going through my head now, and 'White Horses'. Next you'll mention 'Follifoot farm' and i'll have to go back in time!

Let's just get these out of the way then. Mr Benn, Pipkins, Rainbow, Nanook of the North, Crystal Tips and Alistar, Ludwig (funny little egg that emitted Beethoven music), Willow the Wisp, Danger Mouse, Hats off for Harold Lloyd, Bagpuss, Camberwick Green, Trumpton, Flash Gordon, Tarzan and Sheera, Tiswas, Why Dont You (REALLY should be brought back), Noggin the Nog, Boris (Russian Cartoon, or did i dream it?), Magpie, Kick Start, Wurzel Gummidge (all hail the Crow Man), The Tomorrow People, Crackerjack, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Chorlton and the Wheelies, SuperTed, He-man and the Masters of the Universe, Tarzan (both cartoon and Johnny Weissmuller), Daktari, High Chapperall, Bonanza (Big Hoss Cartright aka Dan Blocker), The Lone Ranger, The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams, The Littlest Hobo and Champion the Wonder Horse (previously mentioned).

Obviously this is not a complete list as my memory ain't what it used to be, however, to try and get back on topic, if Jnr likes swashbuckling films, have you tried him with the 'Greeks' yet? I loved Jason and the Argonauts, all that stuff. He will probably laugh out loud at the special effects now though!:lmao:

and no mention of Wombles...

"Boris (Russian Cartoon, or did i dream it?)," Boris the Bold I think- a simple man who was always at odds with the New Prince.

Never really got my head around the demographic. Madam Sholey and Uncle Bulgaria seemed to be a little seedy for my liking, hanging around with young wombles, welcoming them into their house. I agree it had it's place, just not with me. Maybe i was a little old:rolleyes:

It may have been some sort of Trauma, Switch, but until Terahawks was mentioned in general and Zelda specifically, it had not occured to me that she is the spitting image of my mother-in -law! No Joke!

You didn't like the Wombles:confused:

Burn the heretic

OK, before i am to be put to the flame, my defence is this. It's not that i did'nt like 'The Wombles', it's just that i liked other programmes more! Not much of a defence, i agree, but that's all i've got! So, to the pyre then, may the flames lick around the hem of my harsh hessian undergarments and be'twixt my spindly leg's as i fall foul of the Womble Inquisition!

The Princess Bride
Scaramouche - always loved this film since my grandparents made me watch it once
The Richard E Grant Scarlet Pimpernels
The Disney 3 Musketeers - The one with him off 24 in it ;)

Oh stuff it - put a sword in any film and I'd watch it. Unless it has Hugh Grant in it - and then I'll do all I can to avoid it.

OK - the Wombles were cool recyclers, but the best Kids proramming of MY childhood has to have been the (French?) dubbed version of Robinson Crusoe! How bushcrafty can you get?
The tune still haunts my beachcombing days - Daa da da da dah de, de de de, da da dada dadada da da de....etc
And then for the hills there is "Belle and Sabastian" starring a giant white Pyranean Mountain Dog......
Ah memories......
John

NO-ONE EXPECTS THE WOMBLE INQUISITION!!!

My chief weapon is surprise - surprise and fear... my TWO chief weapons are...

I'm now beginning to wonder if I'd look good in Cardinal Red...

Princess Bride appears to be on later today, 7pm, Five US.

Can someone tell the people at British Blades? I see from the exchanges below that it's
quite popular there too - it's a most entertaining film :)
