So this elsewhere thought it could be fun. Apologies if this has been done before.

You have to produce a survival kit for £10 or less
You must be able to start fire -
You must be able to make shelter-
Have provision for two meals-
and it must be waterproof to the point that it can be submerged in water for 60 seconds

Lets see who can get it the cheapest....

so here is mine-

Poncho 2 pack £1 - shelter and fashioned into waterproof cover for all
2 x emergency blanket from Poundland £1 -shelter
Ball of String 50p - shelter
Matches 30p
Candle 50p- to coat match heads
Beans with Sausages two for a £1 - this gives me cooking pot and cup
first aid kit £1
Knife Set of 8 £1

Thats £6.30 and I have extras and all from one store.

Orange Survival bag - £1.50 (Go Outdoors)
2 Pack foil blankets - £1 (Poundworld)
1 small pack of tealights - £1 (Asda, idea from the "Staying Alive Cold" thread)
1 Clipper brand lighter - £1 (Asda - removable flint in case the gas runs out)
2 Tins Irish Stew - £1.40 (asda again)
Plastic bag to wrap in - 5p (Generic supermarket bag, may well be free since most people will have one, i'm assuming they have free tape in the house)
Racing spoon, metal - £1 (As..You guessed it, if not spend this on a first aid kit)
Oasis water puri tabs, 50 pack - £2.45 (eBay, free shipping)
1 Liter water bottle - Free, from the house
1 Bar value milk chocolate - 15p (Sainsburys, admittedly on offer just now, normally 30p)

Total cost of exactly £10. or £9.95 if you have a bag etc.. Most people of course also have a spoon lying about..

Painters dust sheet - £1 (Poundshop) * Huge coverage, good for shelter/ groundsheet / bivvy bag but fragile and wont last much past three days
Small kitchen knife - £1 (Poundshop) *
Disposable lighter - £1 (Poundshop)
Jute Twine [125m] - £1.25 (Wilko) * Way better than the stuff in £shops

Coffee Can or Catering size Baked Bean can for a Billy - Free, ask at local café/restaurants/pubs
water bottle(s) - Free, check litter bins and blue recycling refuse bags
Plastic bin bags - Free, some councils give them away, used ones can be found all over the place.

Coffee sachets x5 - £0.89p Tesco Value range
Pot noodles x2 - £0.70p
Biscuits digestive x1 - £0.31p
At a rough count that's about 2000 calories

Total: £6.15

* If really in a pickle then heavy plastic sheeting, a knife, twine and other useful items could be foraged from the local allotment :27:
