Storm Freya blew through mid-Wales yesterday afternoon and evening.

Hope everyone stayed safe.

After a quick look round this morning to check for damage I guess moving the sheep down the hill for lambing will have to wait - a lovely, gnarly old goat willow, the trunk charred and hollowed out has come down across the track.



May have started to feel it’s age compared with the new kids on the block I’d planted next to it but hopefully it will respond to being cut back and be good for another century or so!

That’s my plans for the day sorted then!

Plenty of spoon wood and kindling in that tree.

Freya added a sense realism to the weekends first aid course. The wind in our woods sounded like a constant steam train rushing past.
Fortunately not tree damage.

I have just popped up to my little site...no visible damage, not even to the two pines that I hope to drop this coming weekend as they threaten to fall at any time!

We only had gusts for about half an hour last night and even then they weren't particularly bad. I'll pop down to the wood later to see if we have any new wind-blown.

The wind was pretty intense from mid-afternoon until about 8.00 pm yesterday not pleasant at all.

Cold and windy today - anyone would think it was March.

A bit sad to see an old battlescarred tree coming down when it is covered in catkins and was getting ready for another year.

I’ve cleared enough of it to open the track up and when I have a bit more time, I’ll cut the stump back and hopefully it should come back.

We've had a few heavy hail storms today. The wind has died down but it's pretty chilly here. Had to bundle up good and proper to go out. So different from last week.
