led said:If you still don't trust the hitch, then loosely tie the hammock with a bowline, leaving a long tail end. Use that end to then tie a hitch of your choice to tighten it up. Your hammock won't fall down if the hitch fails because you've got the bowline as a backup.

bambodoggy said:Spot on Shaman....it is a little more tricky to dress and is harder to tie (tautline can be done one handed) but it's a lot more secure then the tautline and as you say if I'm hanging off it up a tree then I want it secure....specially if I'm juggling chainsaws too! lol![]()
