Hi, I have seen a few videos on tapping trees for their sap during the first two weeks of march but there aren't any birch trees near me. I read somewhere that you can also do this with sycamore, is this true? Is the time of year any different?

Thanks,
Asa.

yes you can do it with sycamores, i think you can do it with all trees of the acer family. i'm not sure what time of year is best though but i'd imagine that it works all year round.

works best when the sap is riseing in the spring (when the buds start to open). in theory it shouldn't work in the autumn or winter because the tree will be dormant.
