Tapio Wirkkala Puukko

Does anyone know much about this knife. I have one and until now I hadn't really studied it but a quick google tends to suggest it might be a half decent knife. My auntie gave it to me after my uncle sadly passed away suddenly. We were really close and I haven't really been able to go through the things she gave me until now

Hi Silverback,
The hackman knife, designed by Tapio Wirkkala is somewhat a collectors item now. As far as I know the knife is the only true advancement in puukkus in the modern era, all modern puukkus seem to me, to be interpretations of classic puukku design.( I think only a great designer could get away with a radical change to the puukku as what Mr. Wirkkala did).
