Taking off the rubbery plastic handle of a mora knife?

It's hard for me to imagine the tape stopping your hand from being cut. I can imagine how it would help a little.

it depends on how much you put on. I wrap my blades in electrical tape. I start at the handle end, up to the tip then past the tip. I wrap past the tip quite a lot - it gives a bouncy end for if its dropped or hand contact. I then wrap back down to the handle end of the edge. I find that's sufficient for safety.

I too have been taping my blades when I do handle fitting. I use masking tape, and I extend beyond the tip. Works fine. Has been shown in many books and tutorials on knife making, by many makers. Does not protect the edge if you should happen to stray with a 10" B'stard file while shaping the handle though . :aargh4:
