Though the sunken forest at Ceredigion is known, the recent storms have removed a huge swathe of peat and sand to show a great deal more than has been revealed before.
Archaeology; walkways, axe marks on oaks, hearths, etc., which would normally have decayed and rotted away, have also been preserved and revealed by the storms.

I have tried to find one clear link, but there are an awful lot of photos appearing of the tree remains. I think that google's search is probably the easiest I can find

Curious now to hear what else is discovered there :)

Fascinating and although it is only an hour away from me I have not visited it.
I have seen the "drowned" prehistoric forest at Freshwater in Pembs ... global warming and sea level rise is nothing new after all!

Thank you for that, very interesting and something I have always been aware of although Ive never visited any of the sites. I wonder what the gradual flooding of the forests over thousands of years means? Slow post ice age sea level rise or something else perhaps?

Hoping to visit some of the Cornish sites today where the sand cover has been stripped off submerged forests. There is a worry whether there are sufficient archaeologists to survey all the exposed area quickly enough to capture the evidence of the ecology and human activity when the live forests were there.

'An “abnormally low tide” revealed the forest for the first time around 15-years-ago. But it has since remained under the cover of the sea.'

This bit is simply not true,I remember seeing for myself when I lived in Camborne which is only a few miles up the road.I moved from Camborne nearly 30 years ago !
