Wife and kids are at Oma's, so I took the opportunity for an extended walk.

I am lucky in that I live in a very green area of Germany.

This is the path looking back, after 15 mins on the walk.

This is where I'm headed.

Occasionally, there are fields sprinkled in between the woodlands.

But walk around the corner and you can see this.

A wild meadow.

A tinder fungus?

The woods get a little thicker.

A pond.

I found some birch bark and a fallen ash tree. The tree provided me with the fuel for my bbq afterwards. Sausages grilled over an ash fire are delicious!

The Sunday before, I went for a walk in the woods with my two boys.

The older, Tim, has a new PLAYMOBIL pilot. Hence, it was only fitting that the pilot gets a plane!

May I present, the bush plane:

Time to make: 5 mins. Materials: 2 sticks, some vine, and a knife.

Seeing his eyes widen with joy when I gave it to him... cannot be described with words. He played with it the whole afternoon and evening (and the next day).

Cheers for looking!

Cheers Matthew,

It sure beats working, though I'm sitting at an office desk all week. Working in a lab must be more exciting than office work in any case!

I do hope you mean a coat mate! :Wow:

I do have a white lab coat :D only reason I went for the job that I got to wear a lab coat and gloves and feel all scientistey :p But the lab it self is almost totally white, walls, floor etc.

Edit: I think I just got what you meant, I was talking literally, the room it's self is all coloured white :p

Ahh, now I understand, thanks for explaining!

I better not tell SWMBO, children aren't allowed to play with matches after all!  :theyareon :D

Hi Mate,

Nice post. What I meant was that your toy plane was reminiscent of a North American way of making fire - a Fire plane.

Galemys did a thread on it a while back - Chinookan fire planes.

With the right wood your version might work
