Guys many, many, thanks for making me feel so welcome, what a hoot!

Had an excellent time, got a hell of a lot of information from the skill shares and talking to all the participants (whether I've learned anything will remain to be seen). Really, really pleased with my sleep kit/ set up (first time under a tarp, why didn't I do this years ago?) although a much lighter/ smaller sleeping bag is most definitely required.

I've quite a long list of items to purchase and an equally long list of things to consign to the 'tried it, didn't need/ like/ use it' pile and a number of new avenues of gear fetish/interests to pursue and some new knowledge and skills to practice.

A really fun, interesting and relaxing Sat & Sun, many thanks.

Thank you Bryan for tonnes of great info on fires, pitching tarps and hammocking.
John for the great tip on making clay catty ammo and for trying out the parabolic mirror (would be nice to try it in the sun one day).
Got lots of good advice on tinder from Carl and can't wait to copy his idea for the steel flint stricker.

Toby, I'm still cracking up over the ring tone joke.

New lesson learned today! when I started packing away, it was dry, so took my tarp down first to get better access to pack up my gear........... then obviously it started raining, so my stuff got wet, never mind lesson learned.

I did mine the other way round. I packed everything away then left my tarp out to dry for an hour. But it rained again. I don't think there is a right way to do it.

Colin, no pics of my set up, I went back to an a frame but got my ridge line sorted this time by using line locks....... gradually getting my set up sorted. Have not tried the bannock bread yet but when I do it will be a savoury one I reckon.

Shame you could'nt make it, twas a good one.

Hey everyone... I truly enjoyed meeting everyone and hope to be invited back. It was a damn fine time, and I learned a great deal. I must say that I never thought that I would become a tarp guy, but I'm truly hooked. I've also come to completely dig my Swedish Army Trangia Kit, my GB Mini, the DD 4x4, the British Army Arctic Bag, and my ferro rod, though that last one took some time to appreciate.

Great to see you all had a good time, and enjoyed the Skill Share input from the peeps, thats what its all about.. having a good time and learning, what really make it is if its fun, and in good company.

we are luck to have all the elements in the group.
