It's very strange here just now. It's a flat calm out there, a bit wet, but it's warm, yet the phones did the siren thing and we're under a Red warning for tomorrow from 10 to 5.

Our house is half surrounded by trees.....we'll hope nothing comes crashing down.

Stay safe folks :)

Currently having a power cut which I think is more to do with last months storms. Hopefully we will only get 70mph winds rather than the 90s predicted for those less fortunate up north.

Just 40mph predicted for WM.
I’ve tipped the wheelies over and jammed them against the wall.

Good luck everyone.

Calm and quiet here on exmoor, but I've heard there was a tornado in Cornwall damaging houses and overturning caravans. As far as I can see, nobody seriously hurt.
I'm prepped and ready, multifuel burner is laid ready to be lit if the power and heating goes out, logs ready and coal buckets full, everything outside tidied away, or tied down. Flask filled and snuggled under cushions to help with insulation, gas stove, oil lamps, torches, and candles on standby. Jackery fully charged. Slow cooker full of warming meal that can be reheated on the camp stove.
Nothing to worry about.
Winds due about 6am for me.
I survived the devastating 1987 storm that Mr fish said wasn't a hurricane in a caravan, with no prep at all. Not afraid.

We’ve been forecast 30mph winds with gusts up to 50mph so no mega threat here apart from there being a lot of trees which have sat on waterlogged ground for a while. Just north of the South Downs, so the land here is prone to it while the water tries to find its way to the coast.

How's everyone doing?
Slept fine last night, no big wind, just a bit of rain.
Blue sky as the morning mist burns away, and no big wind, just a normal slight breeze atm.
Hope those further north are OK.

Pretty mild here but 20 miles round the coast it is piccking up and 4 miles around it is measuring 41+mph. I guess that is steady state or average winds with stronger gusts. BTW that last one was measured, they measure it at work due to old and iffy buildings I guess it is good evidence for insurance claims to have the damaging wind speed recorded. I am WFH today. As you can tell I am working hard!!

BTW a tip from my late gran. If you record on a calander the days it was stormy then if you notice any damage to the house that could be wind related you can go back to your insurer with the exact date the damage was done. Since they check met office records to see if it was windy on the date claimed at least you know it will get through that wind speed check. Of course all the damage caused was wind damage and it was almost certain that last stormy day it was caused. Right!!

Blowing a hooley up here in Central Scotland. Woke me up at 0700. First bit of damage, plant pot got blown off the back step and broke. Hopefully that's it.

Red warning means danger to life. So stay at home in Scotland and hunker down for the day.

Trains north of Preston shut down yesterday so I was it was handy I got my on site days done by Wednesday. WFH through this even if CUmbria is not facing the brunt of it.

East Yorkshire/North Lincs is only getting gusts up to 45mph-ish, so nothing too bad here. Of course everyone's recycling bins have scattered their contents along the street, despite warnings that it was going to be pretty windy overnight. People will people.

It was blowing about 65mph here - blew open a bedroom window but no real damage :)
The "retired" tarp thet is hung over the front of the wood store wash trashed ... but then it was starting to fall apart anyway!
I had a quick look in the woods (still gusting about 50mph) but not further damage to be seen since the last (catastrophic) storm. One tree across the road at 6AM was cleared by 9AM.
Still pretty breezy now at 10AM - about 45/50mph but fun to walk the lanes :)

So far so good in Shropshire.
Blowing a goodun. They said 40mph and I’d guess it’s as advertised.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the roadside trees that were rocked last time roll this time.

Wind picked up a bit in the last hour, nothing too drastic as yet but some of the gusts are making my ears pop, at the moment it sounds worse than it actually is. Clackmannanshire is just on the north boundary of the red area. Keep safe everyone. JFW
