I'll post the timber company's comment as well as it has some bearing.

The company's comment was, "These are some really awesome River Reclaimed Cypress slabs get one while they last!!"

Obviously a sales pitch but it and the photos certainly have me lusting and planning projects.

Why is river wood so desirable?.....those lads on axe-men go mad over it

The sheer size of some of it? The age (most reclaimed logs were cut over a century ago) and history? The cosmetics? (I'd love some of the pecky cypress) All of those are good but who knows what others find desirable.

Just like bog oak , those timbers have been perfectly preserved underwater. The process makes the wood harder and darker making the grain quite distinct.
Additionally, let's not forget the process takes a good few decades meaning those timbers are from very big and old trees , before the time of environment protection orders....

Beautiful grain there...thanks for sharing .
Where's the sawmill?

It's Blackwater Timber Company in Thomasville, Georgia. Here's a link to their site where you can view other products and some projects they've done www.blackwatertimber.com

Exactly that! That's why these river and bog timbers are so valuable.
Too far for me , but wonderful stuff nonetheless...

This project (the ceiling, beams, and gun cabinet) from their antique heart pine was beautiful to me:

As is their Pecky Cypress:
