I'm suffering a bit at the moment with the old Hallux Rigidus (arthritic big toe) I'm usually ok for a couple of miles or three but then gets painful.

I've been told a boot or shoe with a rigid or rockered sole would help a lot.

Any suggestions, lightweightish if possible?

Thanks

Winter mountaineering boots have stiff soles as they are designed to take crampons. There are so many out there, I suggest you try a few of the Outdoor / Climbing shops so that you can see them & feel the weight. Generally they are pretty expensive, and not that light weight, but technology changes all the time.
I definately think the shops would be a good place to start.

I'd take a good look at a set of Lowa mountain boots. A fantastic walking boot, you can find them with or wthout g-tex. They have a pretty rigid sole and are made to last. They are not lightweight, but you will grow to love them.
