hi .

please note that this item is illegal to use in most countries now , but is perfectly legal to own. it would make an interesting conversation piece, or would that be conservation ( no i dont think so)

I have this great steel jaw sprung trigger animal trap. it is in excellent working condition ,

stamped with the words C. HOMES ......... REG. 500383

this was most probably used for trapping small animals upto the size of a large dog. or possibly beavers , otters etc .

i dont know how old it is , but its 'old' .

looking for a swap for anything interesting

Thats a gin trap used for foxes and as you say other small vermin in wider areas.which in Scotland in the 60s also included Badgers
my old man had loads of them and other stuff; but like a lot of things in those days certainly not legal now
I remember when they became illegal in our world and my old man just bought more cartridges
For fairly obvious reasons
try sticking your finger in one of those traps
lol

Ive handled a lot of traps one of my party tricks is setting a gin trap off with my hand not for the faint hearted but it done right it dosent hurt :D

It looks like a three inch jawed wire spring gin trap pre 1954 when they were outlawed
looks in tidy condition to

cheers Russ

this trap is now traded . cheers smarty
