Stainless Steel Mug

I saw these on Amazon today and thought for £2.99 + Free Delivery that it was a bargain, I bought two.

seen these in Go outdoors,..

be aware they are double wall, and so whilst good at keeping your brew warm, no good for boiling up in,..

i managed to pick up two of the single walled folding handle version a while ago, and not seen them since,..

Yeah I have two of these for proper camping - like raikey says - great for keeping your brew warm.

Asda are selling double walled SS mugs exactly like this for £3.
Was actually going to ask if they would be any good over a fire, so it has to be single walled then?

yup, for 2 reasons. You won't get good heat transfer, and the hot air expanding could potentially cause issues.

Instead you got a couple of mugs talking about double walled cups and there unsuitability for cooking pots.

And is there anywhere to pick up a cheap single walled mug? i would like to have something that i know i could use to boil some water in, i love products with more than one use

Tatonka do an excellent SS mug in two sizes, you can get them from Tamarack: http://www.tamarackgroup.co.uk/acatalog/Cookware__eating_and_Drinking.html

The large one fits perfect in a Swedish Army Trangia too.

You might be better with an issue mug for boiling though.

I have one of these mugs and they are great for cooking, I have used mine over the fire, with meths and with hexi and it cleans up nicely
Fits right onto the 32 oz nalgene bottles to so takes up hardly any space if your already carrying water
