well, I got a stainless plate from a local camping shop. Its rubbish, it weights half a kilo and got relegated to kitchen duty almost at once. I now combine the functions with a stainless Balti dish I found at the local Pound Store. About 20cm diameter.

Looks a whole lot like this one, only I cut one of the handles off for ease of packing. You can fry in it at a push, wash and shave in it, and eat soup or sandwiches equally well from it.

Have you done a search for camping plates in the Net at large? there are loads of them!

I rather think this was the plate that I have. Didn't like that, but bought the mug recently and things it's ace...the wire handle doesn't get hot and it packs well even if it is a bit heavy.

Blacks do a nice bowl that nests perfectly on the top of a 14cm zebra billy.
It's stamped "seagull" on the base. (Interestingly it's identical to the MSR mountain bowl, also made by "Seagull" but half the price)

Morrison used to sell stainless storage tubs with rubbish white plastic lids, chuck the lids away and you've got 3 bowls for a couple of quid.

Only problem with metal plates is the conduction.

When filled with hot food you need a glove or something to hold them and your food cools really fast on them as well.

I still prefer them to plastic though.

Yeah, that is why I think that thing that comes with the Zebra Billy cans is such a waste of space. Impossible to hold when hot food has just been added, and too dang small. That's why I like my Balti dish...the handle is just enough to let you hold without gloves. I kind of like my food to cool down quick, but I tend to be a fast eater and don't linger over my meals. I am more likely to burn my mouth than have the food become chilled.:p
