Good review, BR. Just to add to my earlier comments, I reckon the Spyderco Moran drop point is an almost perfect deer knife. It's a great slicer. I tend to prefer a knife that is not too pointy for deer/game (which is why I bought the drop point model when it came out, though I already owned the trailing point model). Its nice clean lines, handle material and lack of nooks and crannies contribute to 'cleanability'.
It would not be my first choice as a general bushcraft knife, though I'm sure it would acquit itself reasonably well in that role. I have to say that I found both of my Spyderco Morans very sharp from the box: an effortless straight push to shave hairs, with no slicing required. Perhaps my standards and requirements of sharpness are lower than others?
Your comment about the Fallkniven F1 is interesting. I think it was someone on British Blades who told of having an F1 thinned and flat ground by Stuart Mitchell (at some expense) to improve it as a deer knife.
