Whilst there seem some practical problems with the idea of burning a tree trunk whole, I do like the mechanical iris design.

Er, an interesting exploration of design but really not the most practical idea that I can think of.

moving the trunks into place would be fun. Feeding them in would be better if it could be automated somehow....
