Spoon knife help

My partner bought me a spoon knife for my last birthday but i just cant get on with it, TBH not sure if its the knife or me but i think its the knife. its a frost 163 double edged, I dont have enough money to buy a new one and would like to use it anyway as it was a gift.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to mod it to make it more useful?

all i did to mine was to file down the edge onthe side i didnt use so it was totally blunt, also, use some wet & dry or a dremmel to remove the "acute angle" between the bevel and the main body of the blade, makes it much smoother and easier to use

I blunted one edge of mine after almost removing my thumb....and I got Dave Budd to give at a good seeing to (but with patience you could rebevel it and sharpen it yoursef - its just I was lazy/incompetent).
I use the knife a lot now

Do you cut away from yourself or towards?
