Spiders say Autums coming

There I was sitting on the edge of the woods watching the Pipestrelles and listening to the local Tawny's, when this great damned spider launched itself over my head and started spinning it's orb. First one I've seen this year and it usually tells me Autumn is just around the corner.

Autumn, yeah I could smell that edge today, there's just a hint that leaves are getting old and the seeds are well set.

Yep, had a couple of big boys (inch/2 inch span) come into the house over the last couple of days, had to be shown the door before her indoors screaming heebiejeebies broke the windows! The sign of autumn for me is that she's now banging her shoes before she puts them on!
