Those pocket cases come in many makes and sizes too. If you find one for 300 win mag cartridges it will be 1.5mm wider per loop :)

In that case, the laboratory tubes (which come sterile and have really well fitting waterproof caps) might be a better fit.
If this interminable rain ever goes off I'll nip out and measure some.

Just dance down to the shed, Mary. You'll be fine. ;)

:D

It's the ankle deep puddles that are kind of in the way

Funnily enough, I was thinking of pm -ing you and asking if you fancied making some of these cases....I bought a stash of tubes and have some to spare.

JohnC, that's a very kind offer :D I didn't want to post your name incase you found yourself flooded, but those of us who have received some from you are very grateful; they've been incredibly useful :D I sent Tengu a spice kit for her 'nest box' caravan, using them.

Not many of them to the pocket!

As a thought, MTM do a hard case which might be helpful if anyone uses glass vials.

My club has a 1,000m range for the BMG crowd. Convenient mountain for a berm.

Reading this thread, .50 cal cases would be convenient and unbreakable spice bottles
with the names engraved on the outsides.

I've got a pile of 30-50g hexagonal jars which pack nicely. I won't take any more than
I think that I can use in the length of a trip.

1km is good enough to learn the fine art of reading the wind.
Competitions here are usually 1km for the few who have the range.

I'd like to learn to be a spotter. Nikon Prostaff 82mm, 20-60X scope.
I like to be able to show mountain goats and mountain sheep to visiting friends.
We can see their legs. My old eyes just see them as white dots which move.
But, I do know exactly where to begin looking.

From the comfort of my dining room, I can look across the valley
and up, maybe 5 miles, to 7,000'. I can tell you what color the snowmobile is,
I can tell you the color of the rider's coat but that's about all.

Some people have CAS (Caliber Acquisition Syndrome.) Gotta shoot one of everything.

.308? That's a pistol load for IHMSA. Mine is a re-barreled Rem XP100.

Biggest calibre I know of authorised for Deer in the UK is .338 Lapua Magnum.

.308 is just about at its limit for accuracy at 1000m. Hand tuned rounds and scope rails for that. Factory ammo is going transonic at about 900yards. Makes it somewhat random.

I'll take up shooting .50cal at 1000 yards one day. It's fun!

National Match competition in the high power division (30 calibers; including 308) is at 300 yards, 600 yards, and 1000 yards. But no farther in those calibers.
