Sony customer service or lack of!

I paid over £1000 for an lcd tv around 3 years ago and after about 2 years it started showing like dark shadow running vertically ,these have got worse and also has some other issues with viewing .The tv has been pretty crap to be honest and the picture quality even when new was not as good as my two sons who both have Flat screens in there rooms,I put the model number into Google and up came complaints from loads of people with the exact same problem and the same complaint at the lack of concern from Sony, who refuse to recognise the problem ,The problem seems to be polarising of the backlight which means a new panel which is not worth the effort or expense so looks like a new TV instead .I have had a similar problem not long back with Sony with the PS3 ,which everybody that owned one had ,and again they were no help so There will be no more Sony products bought .Just a rant and warning for anyone considering a Sony product ,beware their customer service is not good at all.

I've had a similar experience with my Panasonic plasma, again a recognised fault on all the forums but they refuse to do anything about it.

It should be a 42" screen but the black stripe down the left means it's only 40" now, they've told me to take it to an authorised repair centre who want £100 just to look at it.

4 years old, and the best part of £2K down the drain, no more Panasonic (or Sonys now), next one's coming from John Lewis with their 5 year warranty.

I wouldn't buy a phillips either power pack issue that they stopped making the part for after 2 years...

and would never buy anything from argos either, new ones exactly 2 months old. And it's off to a repair centre, but the contracts with the repairer means they don't leave you one to watch... they've had it a week and I've heard nowt from them
