I finally got around to some leatherwork over the last few days. I am always in awe at the craftsmanship on this site and rarely dare put any of my work up but I thought I'd risk it :)

Before I could start I needed to make a couple of useful tools - a stitching pony and a carving mallet.

My first project was a new belt for my antique boy-scout buckle. I decided on a totem theme and it's embossed with animals, birds and oak leaves.

Whilst making belts I decided to make my son one - again animal forms with Celtic knots.

And, finally for now, an A6 notebook cover embossed with a raven design. This is very much a prototype and I have plans for improvement :)

I've now got more leather and some new needles on order :)

Scout belts with those buckles were really cool. They had a ring either side so you had hanging hooks or could loop through with a handy hank.
