Snugpak Snugfeet

I don't think these were meant as inner-boots (eg like felt inserts), but for keeping tootsies warm in the tent or sleeping bag! A bit like the army bivvi-boots.

I'm gonna where them in the hammock mate, and with my Neos boots which are made to go over these sorts of liners or even a full boot. I was going to get some down ones but they're a bit too pricey at the mo.

There's supposed to be some pile and pertex ones kicking about but I've not found them yet, I reckon they'd be ideal

I have to kick mine off after an hour or so as they get too hot in the sleeping bag, they aren't pretty but they work well:

I wear the Snugpak Tent boots a lot as I only ever use a tent, never a hammock. Just a couple of points. They are fairly basic in design and very large fitting, not the often found small sizes labelled 'Large' as in some footwear of this type. Mine come within a 2-3 inches of my kneecaps and I doubt that I could even wear them in Wellington boots they are that loose fitting even over thick socks. There seems to have been little effort made to distinguish left and right foot, both are cut to a simple pattern of identical shape and form, so until I had worn them a number of times it was "Which is left and which is right??"
The sole/ bottoms are of a shiney but quite thin material which has allowed me to stand outside the tent on damp ground and then simply wipe the soles dry on re-entering the tent. In general they work well in as much they keep my feet warm in the tent, but I have since found a pair of thermal type, water resistant soled boot slippers which I wear in the tent. I bought these in of all places, a garden centre and at one quarter the price of the Snugpak boots.

Thanks for that wicca, that's useful info thanks

If there's a lot of surplus fabric and lining then they might get uncomfortable in an overshoe

I think having worn them quite frequently Shewie, that they wouldn't be a great success worn as liners. Their design is as I say very basic, almost like a couple of 'Christmas Stockings' in form. Fine for lounging around in the tent but I would imagine a source of some discomfort in a properly shaped pair of boots, where the lack of shaping would lead to the material 'rucking up' and probably creasing in all the wrong places, inside the boot.

Rich, I've got a pair of pertex and pile bivvy boots made by Mardale and they're great. As well as keeping your feet warm, they'll dry out a pair of wet socks overnight too.

I got mine from Needlesports, but I don't know if they still stock them.

Cheers, Michael.

Are they (Mardale) still in business mate, I had a bit of a dig around earlier and found some threads on OM which were suggesting they might not be.

Someone suggested Extreme but I can't see any booties

I was checking those out at Needle Sports earlier, how do you rate them, have they lost much down, got any thin patches?

They've served me very well - had them a year now, no thin spots. Nice and snug. The soles are only rubber insulated (no down underneath your feet) but this has caused me no issues.

I do however look like a complete twerp wearing them :p

That'll do for me, apparently it's a closed cell foam sole so should help a touch on frozen ground. Is the sole a big numb thing or is it narrow?

I do twerp well so looks are not important :)

My feet are quite broad, the sole is too. If you have very narrow feet then I guess they may feel a bit "moon boot" ish. There's small, medium and large and XL sizes so they aren't "tailored" as such.

Cheers, just been reading that the sizes are generous, I'm bordering on M/L so I'll go for the smaller I think.
