I am looking to go to Sweden either next year (or later, we'll see) and I need a new sleeping bag anyway. First question is how cold can I expect it to get there in, say, late autumn? When do the first snows come?

I sleep quite cold and thought I should invest in a three or four season sleeping bag, at the moment I have a summer bag and am wearing lots of clothes, although I was told wearing cotton and the like may have negative effects due to the moisture they trap. Can anybody comment on this?

I went into Blacks and looked at some sleeping bags. I want to keep it under £100, and although down would be good I'm thinking maybe at that price I should get a better synthetic bag rather than a worse down bag. I was pointed to the Snugpack Soffty 12 at £100 (although I would look to find it cheaper on the 'net). I seem to remember the model may have also had "Offsprey" in the title. Is this a good bag, and - I seem to remember a general consensus about Snugpack temp ratings to be off - would it be suitable in terms of insulation? I would be carrying this bag around Sweden and Britain in the winter so weight is an issue.

Coincidently, I'm also going to Sweden next year (march ish), and I'm also looking to buy a new 3 season sleeping bag. I agree with Graham_S, as that's the bag I'm looking to buy. Seems like an excellent bag.

Elite 4 (-15), only just got it so cant really comment, but it feels and looks really snug. Has a bilt in panel as well so you can expand the bag slightly bigger if you want to.

Late December I will be going hiking in bonnie freeze Scotland. I got a Softie 3 for several years now with a sass catelogue rating of being able to use it at -5..............no way!! Together with a fleece liner I can just about use it as a summer sleepingbag...

Now will the nano endurance keep me warm at night when sleeping in T shirt and tracksuit out in the Scottish hills? Dont know much about "maggots" so I will go with the advice of this board....


BTW Im going to South Queensferry 30min drive West of Eburgh. Will post photos when I return !!
