This is a small case which will hold a few fishing hooks around your neck. The same technique can be used to manufacture larger cases for other trail nick nacks.
Slice into log from the side (Caledonian Pine)
Lever out the layers of rings.
Draw out shape
Cut out using a sharp knife
Once the two sides have been created cut out two thin strips and bottom section then glue in using pine resin. Coat other half with resin and leave rock or heavy weight on top.
When waiting for it to dry cut out lid. (Lime)
Pleat three strands of willow bark to make enough cordage to go around neck.
Once glue resin has set taper down sides.
Abrade to a smooth finish and cut a small tube of elder and push out pith.
Attach items and bind some willow bark around case and decorate. Rub in some wood oil.
Finished case will accommodate 4 or 5 hooks and can be worn around the neck.
