I've got a MSR Miniworks Ex water filter and was wondering if it would be ok to use with a slow flowing river?

I'd try and find a smaller / faster flowing inlet, but if this wasn't an option would it be ok to use?

I use mine in all sorts of water, even still water. They are good filters as they will also filter out chemicals, however you should check for any known water viruses in the area you are planning to travel in as the filter wont get rid of those. If you are in an area where this has been known to be a problem then you should boil the filtered water as well to kill these off. Other wise I just pump and drink

you could just add some iodine or similar chemical just to make sure.........

my little pump / filter adds iodine as i pump away, just leave for 2 mins before drinking......"jobs a fish"....
