Slate honing.....

after using local welsh slate block to hone & polish my mora im wondering if anyone else has had success using slate to sharpen??

There are all sorts of slate people use for razors and chisels, some better than others of course. Good stuff in Wales and near Melton Mowbry apparently. Is it Dragon's Tongue you used or something you found and lapped yourself? Got any pics?

its 250year old roof slate from the granmother-inlaws cottege in flintshire i lapped it up ill up some pics later

Yes I have used slate in the past, it's quite soft so the slurry build up with water is pretty good for polishing & keeping the edge.

Ok just been informed the slate is from the same quarry inago jones use from snowdonia! And i have a pile as big as my leg....
