Hi everyone!

I've got a woodlore, with a neck sheath but the sheath doesn't hold the knife any more, there's no interference in the fit as it seems to have splayed slightly at the top. i thought about wet forming it but as I've never done any kind of leather work before, i wouldn't have a clue where to start.

I don't fancy shelling out for a new one (although, I could do with a belt sheath!) so i'd be EXTREMELY grateful for any advice you might be able to swing my way!

Thanks again!

I have no idea what finish is used on the woodlore sheaths but if a drop of water placed on it (or on the inside) soaks in I would think you would be able to re-wetform it.

wetforming is pretty simple - wet the leather with warm water (hand hot) for a few seconds (you can always re-soak if it isn't soft enough) then mold it into the shape you want. You can use a smooth spoon handle or stick to mould it to a good fit. Then allow to dry naturally in a warm place.

things to remember...

  • oil knife blade and wrap in cling film or a plastic bag to protect it (it will be in the damp sheath till it dries which will be at least overnight!)
  • try not to mark the sheath - fingernails is the common culprit - as it is very soft when soaked
