I am starting to formulate an idea about a three to six month camp somewhere in Britain, I'm a woodsman so that's a must and for such a stay really have a decent source of running water and I'd rather it was situated more towards the South of England or Wales (I know this climate better). I've thought about Savernake; Dartmoor; Exmoor; the Forest; the New Forest and a few others, can anyone advise on this (tell me which ones are legal/need permission).
I also have a challenge set up to avoid making this too easy: you have a basic kit and five 'luxury' items:
basic kit:
1. basic knife (4" blade, fixed with sheath);
2. backpack (60-75 litre);
3. 1-50 yards of para-cord;
4. net hammock;
5. sleeping/bivvy bag (to preference);
6. roll mat (to preference);
7. large camelbak/water skin (half gallon);
8. Millbank bag;
9. cutting tool (2 scrub clearing blades; 2 saws (folding/bow); 2 small axes);
10. wire saw;
11. billy can with lid;
12. Trangea stove (two gallons of meths carried per stove);
13. OS map (of the area);
14. compass;
15. fire steel;
16. binoculars;
17. 12 lb bag of rice;
18. bottle of oil;
19. flysheet;
20. fine wire (snare).

'luxury' items (mine as an example):
1. air rifle and two tins of pellets (I cannot remember the designer of the particular gun I have my eye on);
2. Kukri;
3. Zippo and one cannister of fuel;
4. fly set (a few flies and water-proofing);
5. my Barnett Black Widow slingshot and a pouch of .38 cal steel balls.

any thoughts?
