Another good locking penknife with serations is the victorinox new soldier. Similar to the Wenger but a bit smaller. It to had one handed opening

The serations are put at the end of the blade too, making the blade more usefull and leaving the lowest section for woodcraft and fineer things.

I was going to suggest a Trevor Abblett. The fact they're still handmade in Sheffield by Trevor adds that little bit extra, especially as it's a christmas gift. Mine is the most comfortable tool I own. However I checked the website as I started typing this and the stock is all gone and you wouldn't get one till after christmas
