Went to visit a friend of ours who manages a hotel estate locally and he showed us a big pile of leylandii logs that someone had dumped on the drive.

Thing is, I'd have paid them to drop it at my house!

It's there for the taking if we want it, mind but our trailer was full of lime at the time :D

yeah, we've burned quite a bit of it, i'd advise against it on an open fire though, stove is best. I've got about 2 cord of it out under cover waiting for me to get a stove put in :D

Given a year or so to season it burns great, and it's a lovely carving wood once the sap's out of it, good find!

Pops and spits all over the place, but well seasoned and in a stove, it should be fine. It will add tar to your flue though, I wouldn't burn it exclusively, and give the wood burner a big old blaze up once in a while. And get it swept annually if Leylandii, Ash and Birch are your logs, they all coat the flue.

I'd use the Leyland for kindling, it's oily and burns hot but not long.
