Took the two boys out this afternoon for a short walk to try and get rid of some of their energy, we started off having a poke around the small copse at the end of the road
then headed up the lane
Where i live the local landowner has changed and the bloke is a livestock man as opposed to the arable farming of the previous farmer, so we now live in sheep country, he replaced a lot of the hedgerows that were ripped out years ago, but it's goning to take years for them to regrow, still it is nice to wake up at first light and hear animals out int he fields again
Lots of spring colour around
and a few edibles
carried on walking up the path and we found the remains of what i believe to be a pigeon impaled on a barbwire fence, this was right by a post and i can only assume that it was put there by a Buzzard of which we have loads around here now
few lambs in the fields, or as youngest called them - dinner these two unlike so many of their age group know exactly where their food comes from
walked on for a bit then stopped under my sit tree, but stood and watched a Kestrel for a short time first, i had a coffee while the boys played and climbed
then headed back home, lot & lots of Butterflies around, including more Peacock's than ive seen round here in a long time
and Comma's
The butterfly population seems to have increased over the past two years since the farm went to live stock, no crops round here to be sprayed anymore - a little coincidental?
Youngest trying to sneak up on a Peacock Butterfly
Then back up the lane towards home
Nice enjoyable couple of hours out in the sun and the boys seemed to have more energyb than ever when we got back home
then headed up the lane
