Made this to replace the original one. Don't trust the strap on the original to hold the axe and keep the axe on my belt at the same time. What do you think? Fishing for ideas and opinion.

Don't think it will work on the bigger axe. This one is a mini. A bigger axe will require a strap across the handle. Was going to do that for this but I thought it was redundant.

A few other sheath that I have made:

Yeah yeah - I'm sold

You around next week to start work on my Wetterlings?

I'll be in town Saturday but only for 15 minutes - I just cant take the crowds. What I want is something that can be removed from the face cover without having to thread the handle through a hole...needs to be able to be belt or pack hung....or even shoulder slung on a baldrick .Or you could do my Scandy Forest axe if you promise to cuddle it )

Nice work Singteck, as ever.

I've been looking at the iea of using those clips for knife sheaths too. I often want to be able to carry a fixed blade knife, in it's sheath, on my belt whilst out and about but have to pass through some very public areas before getting to anywhere I could justify having the knife on my belt. Carrying the knife in a day-bag or similar is fine until you get there but you then have to undo your belt and slide it half way out of your trousers in order to put the sheath on the belt once you are away from the madding crowd. Having a clip like this on a belt loop would mean that I could pass through public areas with no knife anywhere to be seen, then simply clip one on when the time was right.
Trouble is, I don't know how far I'd trust any of the spring clip type clips in reality. I've found that they can be opened by the "D" ring you put on them getting twisted and forcing them open. I don't want to risk losing my knife because the clip wasn't up to the job. Still looking for the perfect answer.

BR, if you want the option of vertical belt or horizontal belt carry for an axe mask, how about using something like I did for the masks I made for my GB SFA and my partners GB Mini.
The belt loop is attached by four rivets that go through the square piece, then through a small section of leather, then through the main body of the mask. This allows for a belt to be fed through either side to side or top to bottom.
Tha axe does not have to be fed through any loops or holes to fit the mask either.

Thank you.

Wow your leather work is fantastic! I am also working on something like that for the larger axe. Not quite the same thought.

Yes those trigger clips are not as secure as a belt loop. What can be done is to tie a lanyard on the D-ring and then loop the lanyard around the ring of the clip as show below.

Take a few seconds more but if the clip fails, the lanyard will prevent the axe or knife from dropping off. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you

Singteck made me a possibles pouch LongStrider. I had regular belt loop and two D rings so I could hang it low off clips when wearing my bergan (I find the hip belt fouls otherwise). Never yet had a problem with the clips coming undone, but if it bothers you, B&Q do very small screw gate carabiners - use one of them instead of the thumb clip and it would be very secure

I've always liked that design of yours so I'd be delighted if Singteck can do something similar. I'm also hoping we can adapt the D loop and trigger clip principle to allow a baldric to be attached to the mask so that I can carry the axe on a strap at hip height a bit like some women do with their handbag (over neck and one shoulder). I'm hoping singteck will make the baldric too but don't tell him yet. :D
