Sewing duffel toggles onto wool blanket

My wool blanket kept falling off me last night so thought if I could button it into a large sleeping bag thing it would help.

I reckon Duffel coat style toggles are the way forward but wondered how I should attach them to the blanket (what stitch/thread/reinforcement etc.)

If I remember rightly you have a small piece of material at the back of each toggle to give the stitch strength.
Same for buttons on heavy leather coats.

You'd be best to make tabs to carry the weight and pull of the toggles and to sew button holes through both the blanket and another supporting tab.

Tbh honest the easiest way would just be to use blanket pins.
These are sold on ebay for a couple of pounds for a set of them. They're like big plain kilt pins and they're secure when fastened :)

I'll find a link, but if you do want to use toggles, I've got a batch of black plastic ones that could do with a few new homes.
