Self Heating Jackets.

My friend is an avid biker and swears by his heated body warmer. It has 3 temp settings and is rechargeable via usb.

Does anyone have any experience of these type of jackets for bushcraft etc?

I've never been cold with insulation and the old mark 0 stove (your body). Only time you should need heating, would be when you're sleeping or sitting still for a long time.

Not jacket related but, I was bought some self-heating socks once. Quite the most ridiculous thing I've ever owned. Pretty much nearly burned my toes off and they took a D-Cell battery in each sock to work. After 10 minutes of wearing them I'd have bloody huge batteries knocking on my ankles.

Absolutely daft.
