Seax WIP

i was up on the moors with my partner yesterday and spied a lump of rusty metal lying on top of a stone wall. i dont know how long it had been there but took it home with me. turns out its a hardenable steel and from the shape likely a spring steel. i did a few tests on an off cut and which turned out great.
so... viking seax
first job was to clean off the rust and check for cracks then forge it flat and to a rough shape of what i wanted.
next i need to start the bevels and heat treat.
here it is so far, nothing historically accurate as just for fun really. has a 15" blade

I've always had a soft spot for seaxes, and that one looks great! Love the idea of making it from scavenged material too. Looking forward to seeing the finished article.
