Tested out my Kahakka with what I want on the outside. Works great. Inside is stuffed with pillow.

A 1.5 litre Nalgene in each sidepocket + Fiskars X7 in the right.
Silky saw in a pouch on the left sidepocket and Sissipuukko M07 in a pouch on the right.

On the front a pouch for a 1 litre Nalgene. In total I can pack 4 litres of water.

Intend to use Source Convertube on one of sidepocket Nalgenes to be able to drink on the go without taking pack off.

PS. After this photo I put the Helikon-Tex first aid kit n the top PALS in the middle. Just some basic bleeding bandages, burn bandages and wound wipes and disinfection spray.

It looks like this:

Northants.
I recently took delivery of the larger, 25 litre version. I've given it a bashing up in the Highlands and am rapidly coming to the view that, for me at least, this is as-near-as-dammit the ultimate day pack. Quality design, materials and manufacture all help but it is the sheer practicality of the whole thing that ticks the box for me!
