When I was a young lad I read a couple of works of fiction about the Special Air Service. At the time I quite enjoyed them but have long since lost those books.

One books plot revolved around the 'Troubles' in Northern Ireland.

The second story related to an operation in Iran at the time of the Iran/Iraq war.

Does anyone remember those books and the authors name.

Thanks in advance.

:)

Would you be thinking of the titles by the author Terence Strong? I remember my brother reading them back in the 80s and they sounded familiar to what you're talking of

i think they were called soldier A soldier B etc?
or i have confused the series you are talking about with a similar series

I think those may be a newer series of books but Paul72 has hit the nail on the head, thanks anyway. :)

I remember reading the Mack Bolan books when I was a kid.
I once plagiarised one for my English homework and looking back now my teacher must've thought I was quite disturbed.

Edited to add:

And Jerry Aherns Survivalist series of course. :)

Many years ago Canoeist magazine ran a serialised book about a canoe/covert op in the middle east, lead by a J Fennah of West Wales - I wrote into the mag to get them to deny any connection with me (he was a ...kayaker!) and I ended up writing reviews for the mag.
Does anyone remember the series?
Was it ever published as a book?

If only the serial had been about you then it would have been worth publishing. :)
