I’m not currently a paid up member, thanks to the dreaded redundancy, but I’m considering re-joining to allow me to sell some kit, because of the...

My drawn out question is, is there a rule of thumb to calculate reasonable asking prices?

If it's not something that comes up regularly on the forum then I usually have a look at the new price and prices for secondhand on ebay and work something out there.

I also ask a couple mates on the forum what they think of the price I'm intending to ask.

It depends on the item really. If it's a readily available item, a second-hand one would have to represent a genuine saving. I think I would normally expect to pay no more than 75% of the new price all-in...

...and I buy a LOT of stuff. What ya got?
