Safety goggles

Just like to say this morning I decided to take a panel which is bolted (rusted to death) onto some concrete fence posts.

I used an angle grinder. It was a quick job, three bolts to deal with and I grabbed my gloves (I don't usually use them) and a quick thought as I left, grabbed the safety goggles.

Took off the bolts and saw some dangerous sharp bits sticking out and thought I'll round those off. These bolts weren't secure and when I chopped them spun, exploding concrete and bits of metal straight into my face and I felt the majority hit my safety goggles.

Yep, praising my lucky stars now, I'm damn lucky I had those goggles so close to hand on the work bench.

Good job you grabbed them - they are worth that extra reach of the arm!
First day I was clay pigeon shooting - absolute beginner, never shot before - and some shards of clay went flying into the safety glasses. Nowhere else on my face, just on the left lens of the glasses.
Worked a treat. I shall never, ever shoot clays without safety glasses on.

I wear prescription safety glasses at work with the plastic protection down the side of the arms, but i always have a pair of safety over glasses on aswell, We use Grinders, Plasma Cutting equip and Burning / Welding equipment, So I'm swapping and changing them all day, Our Safety Officer is a bit keen, People at our place have been sacked for not wearing safety glasses.
