I've just picked up a couple of cheap 2nd travel rods and one has a broken eye. The metal ring has split, but is all there, it is just missing the guide ring.

A quick search shows these rings can be picked up cheaply but I'm after some advice of how to do the repair. Is it a simple matter of gluing in the new guide ring, and if so will something like super glue last for sea fishing? Is there anything else I can do to stop the metal eye opening up and the new ring fall out? I may be able to wrap something around the metal and glue that in place.

The ring is not near the top so I wouldn't say it's going to get a full load on it.

Thanks, that was my thought as well. It may just get used as a back up rod so I'll keep and eye on the eye.
