So I purchased this the other day. Partly out of interest to see if it was " better " than a standard tourniquet and part of me thinking if I had to apply a Tourniquet ( for whatever reason ) on my dominant arm would this be a better option ??

Which I admit , is a little long sighted in the " what if " things that keep me awake at night but it's worth seeing if a better mousetrap can be made.

Anyhoooo.... Phots.

Interesting. How did you find the tensioning mechanism? There seems to be a good number of hard plastic buckles / connectors, plus the unit itself. I wonder if that would limit its application on say an upper arm? Would it be less effective on smaller limbs, e.g. on children?

There is a vid on their website showing it in use if thats useful for comparison- it certainly can be tightened VERY tight.

The ratchet section is made from Aluminium iirc. It seems well built. No play unless you disengage it.

I may end up giving it to a Tree surgeon mate, although I'm not sure if they take up a med kit to high tree level its at least an option.

You can 'graunch' it up , cinch it up tight BEFORE you start applying the Ratchet mechanism - so you can get it very small. Sorry - Missed this the first time around.

You can see the loose end tightener strap at the top of the 3rd photo. - Basically velcro that runs through a buckle and then back on itself - cinch it up tight and THEN apply the ratchet mechanism.

I would ask people ( as an experiment ) if they have tried applying a TQ on their dominant arm without assistance.
