If your phone has a brightness adjustment turn it down a bit and keep one eye shut when you are looking at your phone.
Sounds quite specialist to me, which in English means 'expensive'.

No, don't worry me, I use Special Forces/SAS/SBS/SEAL/Tactical/Ninja/Bushcraft night vision goggles. Got them off eBay £3.99.
Can you not just get a piece of red polycarbonate cut to size and strapped on the screen with a laccy band?
Maybe "Quality street" will have a few red wrappers you could use.

Ha ha I was just going say choci wrapper, if its good enough for me mag light, plus you get a tastey snack,
unfortunalty putting a filter on it will remove anything in that colour from vision and the reason red light for night map reading is a bad idea

what you need is an app for that to custom the colours no idea how to write one or if your phone can use one

What phone is it? Can you customise the theme and make it all red? Combining that with dropping the brightness may help.
