Recommend me a nice frying pan

Im after a decent frying pan/griddle. Pref cast iron with long handle and to be used over an open fire.

What do you the good peoples recommend ?

I use a cast iron griddle from tesco...

Paid £17 for it when on special offer...now £30 IIRC

Goes on every (fixed) camp with me..love it!

If you've got one of those designer outlets near you the kitchen and cookware shops are worth checking out.
I picked up 12" cast iron skillet for £9.99 a couple of weeks ago form the Professional Cookware Co. near York. Folding wooden handle which looks easy enough to replace one day if I need to.

Ikea make decent ones.
I use a folding handle one from millets, eurohike I think, cost about £8 and is brilliant.

Cast iron is high maintenance, do yourself a favour and get a Tefal Red Spot frying pan, absolutely wonderful.

Clas Olsson sells (at least here in Sweden) small sized cast iron frying pans. But cast iron is a bit on the heavy side for most, so I second the steel suggestion, rather than getting one with a long handle get one with a tube handle and use a stick to get longer reach.

Oooooh - I like that! - can I justify another frying pan to swmbo though? - and yes she would find out as she is with me most of the time when it would be in use

However It does give me an idea for adapting the current pan to give it a folding handle hmmm food for thought......

No idea mate, the site that had that pic didn't go into much detail, I suspect it may just be a prototype that someone knocked up. If you google " scroll frying pan" that may help though.
