Festivals are a big rip off but young folks hey ho.

Last year, my son came home for a poo, shower and then went back.

I remember going to the Watchfield 9 day festival back in '75' as an 18 year old. Basic requirements didn't seem so important then, we managed.

When I went carling were sponsoring and if you took a full bin bag to their tent you got a free beer. Pretty good deal and I got quite a lot of free bet for doing what I normally do anyway.

Festivals have really changed since the free festival scene of the 1970s.

I went to the last ever Stonehenge free festival in 1985 which ended in the largest mass civil arrest by police in English history, the police called it operation solstice but it became better known as the Battle of the Beanfield because of the brutal tactics of the police who smashed up the homes (vans etc) of the new age travellers and clubbed anybody within reach. After this notorious event Maggie Thatcher introduced the 1986 Public Order Act.
