Hi there

I’m Peter and although I did a week long course on the fundamentals of bushcraft many years ago I’m very novice to the area of bushcraft. I can still remember some of the basics but I really do need a refresher. If you don’t use it then I guess you lose it ;).

I’m looking to go to bushmoot this year and to get levels 2,3 and 4 of the NCFE course under my belt so I can ride into the wild yonder and have a great time in doing so. I was going to go to Korea but being more proficient in backpacking seems like an easier skill to master :).

I’d like to find other souls that want to go on expeditions (particularly if you’re based in Essex), wild camping or canoeing in UK or Europe. I’d love to canoe in the Norwegian fjords or do ultralight camping in somewhere like Switzerland. I kinda suck at making shelters out of tarps -_- but I’m now going to the gym three times a week to get fit enough to explore the wide outdoors rather than just being a mega nerd behind a computer.

I did an introduction post in 2010 so over 15 years ago and a lot has changed since then. I’ve since graduated from my computer science degree with a 2:1 and I’m looking to work remotely to pay for my backpacker adventures when I get my skills up to scratch. I’ve travelled a lot of Asia (hong kong, Korea, Japan, Vietnam) and most of Western Europe as well as much of South America and parts of North America.

Does anyone know of any meet-ups in Essex or how to get in touch with the community there?
